St.Charles Avenue Pool House

New Orleans, Louisiana

Drawing inspiration from New Orleans' rich architectural heritage, we opted for a Greek Revival style for the pool house. This choice not only pays homage to the city's historic charm but also offers a timeless elegance that complements the surrounding environment.

What began as a traditional pool house project evolved into something extraordinary due to its prime location along the Mardi Gras parade route. Understanding the significance of this setting, we envisioned a space that not only served as a serene retreat but also doubled as a lively venue for celebrating the city's renowned carnival season.

The custom kitchen cabinetry hides a full height refrigerator, pantry, dishwasher and pull out trash.

The interior design approach combines striking, contemporary hues with cherished antique pieces, such as the wall-hung cabinet graciously gifted to the owner by a family member. This juxtaposition of styles adds depth and character to the living space, reflecting a personal connection to cherished heritage.

In an inspired touch, the pine flooring was artfully stained in a checkerboard pattern, imparting an old-world charm that not only evokes nostalgia but also serves a practical purpose. This unique flooring choice cleverly conceals scuffs and marks, ideal for accommodating the lively activities of Mardi Gras enthusiasts who frequent the space. The result is a captivating blend of history and modernity that defines the home's distinctive aesthetic.
